Xbox Splinter Cell Linux
Softmodding an Xbox is a fairly simple process, though many of the existing guides on the internet are outdated, poorly written, or just simply convoluted and confusing, I'd like to make this easy on everyone.
First things first, you'll want to gather the materials.
9 Games Like Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell for Xbox One. In the game, the player as Sam Fisher (the Protagonist) is the member of Black-ops Subdivision called Third Echelon. Help the protagonist to accomplish his tasks and earn rewards. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell includes core features such as different Weapons, Upgrades, Night Vision Goggles, Darkness.
- Hey dude im in the same fookin boat! Wen ever i fookin click checkpoints it freezes. I waited for like 10 mins and it still hadnt done anything. On my harddrive it has a splinter cell profile called linux and at the very top of my hardrive seperate to the splinter cell file it has linux installer and if u press right it says install linux. Plz someone tell me and the other guy hus in the same.
- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell grants players access to the highest echelons of national security, where shadowy operatives have the freedom to do whatever it takes to safeguard America. The player controls Sam Fisher, a field operative of a secretive black-ops NSA subagency called Third Echelon.
Step 1.) Gather Materials:
-An Xbox Action Replay with the Memory Card USB Adapter. (Around 39.99 US)
**NOTE** Per Anapan's great advice - you can also opt to get an Xbox-To-USB adapter to use your controller on your PC, then use the Action Replay Software to transfer the files - adapters run from 6-10 USD, great moneysaver, and thanks for the tip Anapan!
-A copy of Splinter Cell (Doesn't matter if it's Platinum Hits version or not.) (About 3.00 US)
-An Xbox Memory Card. (7.00 US)
-A PC to use your Action Replay with. (You're on it.)
-Another PC/Laptop (connected to your network wirelessly.)
-An FTP Program (Filezilla, CuteFTP, CoreFTP, FlashFXP (My Favorite)) (Most are Free)
-An IRC program (mIRC, Mibbit, etc.)
-An original Xbox of course! (Around 50.00 US)
(Total Estimated Cost = 85.00-95.00 depending on what you already have)
Step 2.) Next, install your Action Replay software to get it ready to transfer the needed files/saves required for the Softmod.
Step 3.) Next we will be getting the Linux Installer and Exploit. First, open up your IRC client and connect to irc.efnet.net (you can type '/server irc.efnet.net' without the quotes to connect). Once connected, type '/j xbins' to join the Xbins channel. Once you're in the channel type '/msg xbins !list' and the Bot will PM you with the FTP server address and your username and password. Use this information to connect to the Xbins FTP server using your preferred FTP client (I prefer FlashFXP). Once you're connected, navigate to /XBOX/exploits/_Packages/Softmod Installer Deluxe/ and download 'Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v2.0.Xbox-Hq.rar' - This is your exploit.
Step 4.) Extract 'SID.Splinter.Cell.v2.0.Xbox-Hq.zip' and 'SID.Splinter.Cell.v2.0.NTSC.Xbox-Hq.zip' from the file you just downloaded. Now, transfer the above files to your Xbox Memory Card using the Action Replay software.
Step 5.) Place the Memory Card into the controller and power up your Xbox. Go into your gamesaves manager and transfer the 'Linux' Splinter Cell profile and the 'Linux Installer' to your Xbox Hard Drive. Make sure that there are no other existing Splinter Cell Profiles saved - the 'Linux' profile can be the only Splinter Cell save in order for the install to work. There should be two game saves, one is the Splinter Cell save called 'Linux' which is 4 blocks in size (the 'linker' file that executes the unsigned code to install the softmod) and the Linux Installer - 489 blocks in size.
Step 6.) Now that we have the required files and we've deleted all other Splinter Cell profiles except for Linux, put Splinter Cell into the disc tray and load the game. When the game loads, go to Start, then load the Linux profile, and make sure to load from a 'Checkpoint' and not a 'Level.' You should then see the screen blank out for about 10 seconds, and then an installer screen.
Step 7.) At the installer screen, be sure to make an MS Backup - this will backup the factory dashboard just in case there are any problems, this will backup the C: Drive on your Xbox to E:Backup. Next, select the 'Create Mod Backup' - this will backup the EEPROM in case there are any issues.

Step 8.) Now that you've backed up your factory dashboard and EEPROM, select 'Install Softmod.' This will Mod the system, do NOT turn off your console during this time. When the installation finishes, the install prompt and status bar will disappear.
Step 9.) Install your new dashboard by selecting which one you would like to use. UnleashX is my preferred dashboard, but you can choose which you want. After installing your new dashboard, restart your Xbox and be sure to take Splinter Cell out of the tray. If everything went as planned, you should now see your new dashboard!
Step 10.) Next, if you're planning on putting emulators on your Xbox, you'll need to head back to Step 3. Instead of navigating to the exploits folder, navigate to the Emulators folder, which are then sorted by system (Genesis, NES, SNES, etc.) Download all of the emulators you wish and then proceed to Step 11.
Step 11.) Now that you have the emulators you want, it's time to FTP to your Xbox. The easiest way to do this is to connect your Xbox to your Router or Modem/Router combo via Ethernet cable and use a wirelessly connected Laptop or PC to FTP. Once your Xbox is connected via Ethernet cable, get your laptop/PC that is connected wirelessly. Go into the Network Settings of your Xbox and set the IP settings to DHCP (Automatic), save the settings, and then restart your Xbox. After a few seconds, your Xbox should get its own local IP address (something like 192.168.1.4), and you're now ready to use your wireless computer to FTP. Open up your FTP program and connect to your Xbox's IP address using the username 'xbox' and password 'xbox' without quotes. You should now see a list of drives: C, E, X, Y, and Z.
Step 12.) To transfer your emulators, simply use your FTP program to find the .zip files you downloaded in Step 10, and transfer them to E:Games Once the .zip files are transferred, grab your Xbox controller and head to the File Explorer on your Xbox. Find the .zip of the emulator you want to install and highlight it by pressing 'X.' Once the file is highlighted, press 'Start' and a menu will pop up with the option 'Extract All Files To Folder...' Select that option and create a new folder in E:Games that is referential to the emulator you're installing, so for example, if you're installing fceUltra (a NES emulator), extract to E:GamesNES, and then any other emulators to similar folders such as E:GamesSNES, E:GamesGenesis, etc. Once all of your emulators are installed, delete the .zip files that contained the emulators as these are no longer needed and will only take up space.
Step 13.) Once all of your emulators are extracted, use the FTP again to transfer the ROMs for each system to their respective folders, for example, all of your NES ROMs would be placed in E:GamesNESRoms, your SNES ROMs would go to E:GamesSNESRoms, and so on and so forth.
