I'm not sure that a discount on an old product is really a bargain but it's your problem.
(1) Pages '08 is able to open several Word documents but not all (same comment for Pages '09)
If I understand well, Future Shop try to sell products of the past. In France we call that an 'antiquaire'.
(2) if you buy iWork '08, take care to save the documents created with the trial '09 as iWork '08 documents.
Pages '08 is unable to open documents saved by Pages '09 with its native format.
