You wouldn't put money on Spieth at this time. Rory is streaky and it is Augusta, but you don't pick the 33rd in the world over Rory right now. What's goings on in april is anyone's guess, but Rory has been good over a longer period of time, so I'd pick him.By Zeph · Posted
Golf is hard, and staying at the top of the game for longer periods is hard. Rory obviously has a great talent, but is very up and down in his performance. Can be frustrating to a big fan, but it's also interesting since you never know what you'll get.By Santamarina · Posted
I started swinging at the driving range when I was in Jr High. Played here and there in my 20s/30s. Now, almost 44 years old, I’m seriously getting into golf as my father-in-law added me to his golf club membership. Last month I played for the first time in 10 years. I’ve always had hand-me-down clubs. At 6’4” those clubs have always been too short for me. It’s time to buy my own clubs - the proper length. However, I don’t have a ton of money to spend - so the latest Taylor Mades aren’t in my near future. Can anyone recommend a good brand (even clone brands)? I’ve come across things like Pinemeadow Golf and SV3, where I could get a set for under $500. Are those any good? I’d like to save up for a better quality club, but I fear the more I play with these short clubs the more my form will suffer.By pganapathy · Posted
This is much easier said than done. Yes, golf is not life or death, but I care too much about my performance not to get upset when I hit a bad shot in any game. I tend to get very upset when I play badly because it means I didn't focus on my game. It is not because I have reached the limits of my talent and am trying a shot I couldn't achieve, but because I executed very badly something I can definitely achieve. I definitely disagree with the basic premise of this video that you should just relax and enjoy golf, irrespective of whether you shot a 3 or 13 for the hole. That is for practice sessions. If you are not keeping score then why are you playing golf at all 🤷♀️By mvmac · Posted
I have a trigger to start the swing, something I've added a couple years ago and it's been huge for me on the course. That's basically when my handicap started dropping from a 2/3 to a +2/3. The trigger has evolved but it's basically spiking some pressure in my left foot so I 'push' or unweight it to shift pressure right before my club moves back, then use that momentum to propel me into the backswing. I have a swing thought when I'm on the range working on my transition but on the course I'm just trying to hit it hard. On the course there just isn't enough time to really 'think' about manually doing something on the downswing. Basically once I 'flow' right I start re-centered the torso and pressure and ideally that allows me to 'fall' forward. Couple pics for further illustrate, notice how there is some flow early and then as more rotation kicks in the hips separate from the trail leg line, allows the pressure and center of gravity to get back to center and even get more forward. Ideally allows the backswing to 'happen' because of the rotation and pressure movement. This sequencing is even more evident with the pros who re-plant their lead heel closer to the target than it was at 1, Rory, Xander, Champ (below).
